Wiring for Light Bar

Hello All,

My son picked up some lighting for his room, though it just has connectors, evidently for cabinet lighting. It is Logisys CXF20 true color light bar. It is a 12v light so I thought it would need a transformer, though it says it has an embedded micro-inverter, and is plug and go. Does this mean I can run house current to it and it takes care of the power conversion?

No it does not. The inverter provides the necessary high voltage to run the neon (which is much in excess of even house voltage). It's 12V because these things were designed to run in cars.

You can buy neon power supplies that run directly from 120V as well or you can get a 12V power supply to run this thing directly.
