Hello All, I have a wall in my pantry that I would like to add an outlet to. On the opposite side of the wall, and about 1' down, is a dedicated 20A outlet. It is lower, as this is the garage, and the floor is about 1.5' lower. I would like to jump from that garage outlet to the new pantry outlet, and mount the new outlet on the same side of the 2x4 just a foot or so above the garage outlet, attached to the same side of the 2x4 as the garage outlet, and penetrating the opposite side of the wall, so I don't have to boar a hole and dig up the drywall.
I plan to run the romex up the 1-1.5 ft loose, between the two boxes.
Is this code compliant, and a safe practice?
