Softener Power Consumption?

Posted by ardmi (My Page) on

(I posted this over in the plumbing but since its electrical in nature its better suited here for a response... thanks)::

I have an old Aqua Systems 9000 softener. It shares a circuit with some other stuff and I need to assure its within the circuits limit (20A).
It says it needs "3W" on the back label. Is that correct?

How much power does a typical softener (or specifically mine) consume when it is regenerating?

I assume the 3 watts is just the power consumed by the manual dial.

I suspect 3W is the total. All the timer (or meter depending on your units) does is move a valve. There's no motor or pump in there.
