If the wiring was redone exactly as before, are you sure the fixture wires and all the other wires were in proper contact before re-nutting? Also, have you tried a different bulb in the fixture that you know is good?

I did try another light bulb that I knew was good and it still did not light.

I think they are in good contact, but I can double check that tomorrow.

I put them back together exactly as they were and all the wires are capped. So that nothing is exposed. I can do without the light for tonight. So do you think if should be ok for tonight.

Make sure the wire nuts are the correct size.

Just because you used the same ones does not mean it was correct to start with.

Joining multiple wires of varying size, stranded and solid is often a place for a bad connection.

If you re-did it exactly as before, I doubt there would be any issue of it being dangerous.

Does it usually go on and off with a wall switch or is there a switch on the fixture or both?
Did you shut off a breaker or unscrew a fuse to work on it?
Are there other fixtures and outlets in the room? Are they getting power?
Is there normal power in the room beyond with the common wall to the fixture?
You may need to buy a cheap analogue Volt Ohm Meter to sort this out.

Doesn't mean the metal guts didn't come out either, and they don't grab the wires very well without them. Reusing the old wirenuts may very well be the problem. :)
