add a light to existing circuit

I added a light fixture to an existing circuit in bathroom. I spliced between switch and existing light fixture. Black to black to black--white to white to white--ground to ground to ground. Now new light is on and old fixture glows faintly. When I turn swich on the reverse. Any suggestions.

Sounds like you spliced into a switch loop. I bet if you remove the bulb from the fixture neither will light.

You need to put that back the way it was (and hopefully that "splice" is in a switch box), and fish the feed to the new fixture from the box on the original fixture.
