"warning! do not disconnect the AC power cord from the AC source"

Hi! I just bought a new laptop, and I noticed this warning on the adapter's power cord. I would assume they meant to unplug the cord from the wall before unplugging it from the laptop, but I would like to know what you guys think?

After all, laptops are meant to be portable and I have never seen any 1200-mile extension cords at any hardware stores :)

i would assume they meant what you assumed, but I would call their tech support to ask precisely what they mean. What brand laptop is this?

It's a Toshiba Satellite S55-A5295. The girl from their tech support was clueless.

Not familiar with that device. But my interpretation would be to detach the charging unit from the laptop and then unplug the charging unit from the AC supply. Suspect that the battery might feed back in some way to the charger if the charger is not energized.
Make your own decision about this.

The only time I have been cautioned about something like this is with my Samsung tablet. The directions say to always plug the power cord into the tablet first and then into the wall, and to disconnect from the wall before disconnecting the power cord from the tablet. However, that cord has a more complicated connector to the tablet than the typical cord that connects into a laptop.
