proper splicing for larger gauge wires

Hello all,

What would be the proper way to splice 6 gauge to 6 gauge or 4 gauge to 4 gauge wires?

The application will be a hard-wired high-amperage range. I've not determined the exact specs yet but it'll be 60 or 70 amps.

Split bolts would be one way. They also make terminal blocks (like little 2 screw bus bars).

For the homeowner, split-bolts offer (arguably) the best connection. The split-bolt will be marked with the wire types and sizes for which it is suitable. If time permits, install and tighten the split-bolt one day, then retighten it the next day and then insulate it.

What is the reason for going back to retighten it? A little thermal cycling or something that I can't think of?

Just use these and forget it. This particular one accepts up to #4awg. Also search polaris connector.
