Just want to confirm that a ceiling fan speed control can be wired at the end of a cable run - with power to the fan first.

Given that this fan has no light would the speed control be wired the same as if it were a light switch?

Any problems having it at the end of the run?

I was uncertain if the fan control is doing anything other than increasing and decreasing the current, having read the fan uses different windings for different speeds.
