How to Safely Terminate Outdoor Light

Hi: I have two spot lights in my front lawn that are wired via buried conduit from the house (they are in the ground). I want to disconnect them and not use them so that it is easier to cut the lawn. What is the best/safest way to do this so that (1) I don't get electrocuted; and (2) the lights/wiring is safely terminated in the ground and not a hazard. Thanks!

You either put an appropriately installed wet rated box down at or below the lawn surface, or completely disconnect the circuits and abandon them.
