Hard to tell. If the box is within 1/4" of the finished surface, it's fine as it is. If it's not, I don't think you're going to find an extender that will work. You will need to remove it and install blocking behind it so that it sits flush with the finished surface.

Those appear to be drywall screws (holding the box to the framing). I woiuldn't use those. Get proper wood screws.
