New GFI Outlet

Happy 4th!

I'm hoping someone can help me. I just installed a new GFI outlet (15v). I ran the wire from another outlet that was the last in the circuit. I ran the black to the brass screw and the white to the metal screw and the ground to the bottom screw and I pigtailed the ground in the original outlet that I ran the wire from.

I got it all done and turned the power on and the original outlet is ok but the new GFI won't test or reset. The light is on for it and my power meter shows it's got power but it just won't work. So, I undid the ground to see if that would solve the problem but it's the same.

Any ideas what I can do? Is it maybe a faulty GFI plug?

RE: New GFI Outlet

First check to ensure that you connected the incoming cable to the LINE terminals and not the LOAD side.
