An ordeal to move alarm box?

Hi. We are renovating a house built in 1976. I want to have our cabinet maker make 4 lockers in a mudroom type space in the house. However, on the wall where I want the lockers, there's an alarm box. We haven't hooked up the alarm in our name yet- not living there during the renovation- but the previous owners used a monitored alarm system, so it's not as old as the house.

Anyway, just curious how much this sort of thing will cost. I want have it moved to the left wall in the closet and start the lockers about one foot away from the corner, so that it's hidden but still accessible. (The closet is about 10 feet wide and 3' deep)

I haven't met with the electrician yet, but have been curious about it for a few days, so I thought I'd ask in here.

Unless that's a completely wireless alarm (such things do exist) there's going to be substantial work in moving it. I presume that you won't want to leave an accessible junction box there either. If you're lucky, the wire goes straight up or down and with a few holes in the drywall it can be removed from that space.

In many cases, you'd be better advised to have the alarm guys move it rather than the electrician.

I'll see what the alarm company says to do. We won't be ready to setup the alarm for a couple of months - when we move in, but I need to get it removed so the lockers can go in

I'd suggest having the alarm guys do it for you now. If you have the carpenter take it off the wall, you may end up with a bigger bill to get it all working in the future.

There is value in getting you as a customer for an alarm company. If you agree to a year or two of service, most independent local alarm companies (i.e. not ADT) would probably move it for you for free.
