Can I add additional lighting off this wiring in my attic?

All,
I have the attached pictured light receptacle and switch in my attic.
The switch is not controlling the pictured light, it controls the power to the thermostat located in the house hallway below this location. The switch for the attic light is also directly below this location in the house hallway.
This light doesn't provide much light at either end of my attic b/c it is centrally located. I was wondering if I can add some wiring and run to the ends of the attic and add another light receptacle?
