Range hood Wiring

Hi, I'm trying to install a new Range Hood in my kitchen which previously didn't have a range hood. For the wiring, can I pigtail off the light in the adjacent bathroom or is it better to fish wire down to the basement and pigtail a light there. Thanks.

RE: Range hood Wiring

Whether or not the bathroom lighting circuit is legitimate to tap in to depends one whether it also feeds the receptacles in the bathroom. The receptacle circuits are not allowed to have non bathroom loads on it.

You need to read the installation instructions on the hood to see if it requires it's own circuit.
