| I'm renovating my deck and while it is up, I'd like to add an outdoor GFI and some lighting. Would this need to be in conduit all the way, or could I staple it to the sides of the joist, which would place it 28" off the ground? Seems this will be amply protected from damage once the deck is replaced and high enough that animals can't reach it to nibble. |

| Conduit isn't strictly required here. The area may be considered damp or wet so you will have to use cable suitably rated for such (like UF). |
