How does the price compare to wire nuts?

I've used them on a 1100 sq. ft. addition and I think they are great. Price doesn't really figure in for a do it yourselfer but the ease of connections is a big plus.

I couldn't believe it: The tan, Ideal wire nuts are $10 for 50 - that 20 cents a piece. The 4 port Ideal push-in were $13 for 100 - 13 cents a piece!

Hopefully they have enough thermal cycles on the design to make them more reliable than #14 push wiring connections.

Those remain code acceptable (note that #12 push connections are no longer allowed) but are a common source of problems.

Keep in mind the NEC is a minimum for fire safety, and a lot of groups have influence on what gets in.

@brickeyee: A friend of mine who works on new homes says that they have been using these for years in new construction. Also a lot of can lights come with these connectors.

I was dubious of them, but I'm told they are totally different than the back stab outlets.

I've never used the Ideal brand, but I have used the Wago brand on multiple commercial jobs without any problems.
