thermocouple wiring for recessed lighting

I am currently replacing my halogen recessed lighting fixtures with in-line LED modules, and there is a thermocouple (or "heat sink" as I believe some people call these) wired into each fixture's junction box. Each thermocouple has four wires (red, black, blue and white) and I'm trying to figure out what these four wires are for and how they should be connected to the light fixture.

(There was originally a MR16 Halogen fixture, with a transformer wired in from behind the junction box to step down the voltage. Since I'm replacing the halogen fixture with a 120v LED module/fixture, I disconnected the transformer wiring.)

Can anyone "shed any light" on thermocouple wiring?

thank you
