timer and switch wiring

I have an outdoor light that is controlled by a switch. But I would like to be able to use a timer on it as well so that I can let my dogs out and the light will go off. I also would like to be able to just use the switch when sitting in the yard for the same light. I find info for 2- 3 way switches but I would like to use either/or for the same light-- my choice

Thanks in advance.

Easy to do. The neutral is not switched and runs directly to the light fixture. Do not disturb or change that.
At the timer, one conductor feeds power (in) to the switching part of the timer and another feeds power (out) to the light. Your manual override switch bridges between those two conductors.
Both of them are switches and when connected in parallel, the light will be on when either or both switches is in the ON position.
