I cut the wires off a ceiling fan thinking that the power was off and it arced. I then turned the power off, replaced the fan/light and turned the power back on. The fan works but the light won't turn on. There is a wall switch to turn the light on that isn't getting any power to it now. How can I resolve this issue?

Find the feed for the dead switch and start checking of loose or damaged connections. The current surge from the short may have broken an already weak connection.

My first thought is the switch is on a switch loop which you did not hook up. If the fan is worked from a pull chain and the light from a switch then you have to have two connections to the power line at the fan. One that goes directly to the fan and the second down to the switch and back again.
