Putting a new light fixture in old house... light won't turn off

I am in an old house trying to put up a new fixture. It has two switches(one with a dimmer). previous fixture worked fine. new fixture will not turn off from either switch only from circuit breaker. new fixture does not have a dimming function. what could be the problem?

It's wired wrong. You've connected the fixture to a constant hot wire instead of the switched wire.

You wired it wrong. Please give us some details of what you did.
If you conencted it to the same two wires as the old fixture then it should work. It you tried to FIX a problem you thought you saw when black and white wires were connected together then you messed it up.
