A breaker box panel question?

Posted by lsst (My Page) on

I have an Intermatic in wall timer that controls some exterior lights.

Something is wrong with the timer and it will not accept new batteries. I need to order a new timer.

The breaker box is right next to this timer.

Can I just shut the power off and on from the circuit breaker until the new timer arrives or do I need to go ahead and add a toggle switch for temporary use and then replace the toggle with the new timer?

My concern is if switching the circuit breaker on and off too often wears it out.

Thanks in advance!

There is no problem using the breaker as a switch.
