What type of switch is this?

I have a light switch in my bedroom. It controls the power to a electrical outlet but regardless of the switch position it still allows electricity supply the bathroom next to the bedroom. I tried swapping the switch, but I lose power in either the wall outlet or the bathroom. Any ideas what type of switch this is?

The kind you hooked up wrong. We need more info, but that is a pretty common configuration.

The is no special switch for that. It is all about how you hook it up. Tell us how it was before and how you have it now. Tell us about ALL the wires.
