| I was wondering what the standard practice is for wiring entrance lighting and exterior receptacles. Do you typically cut the sheeting and install a box or just stub out the wire? Also, I know the receps need to be GFI protected, but do the lights need to be on the GFI circuit or can they go on another lighting circuit?
Thank you,

| What circuits things go on is independent of GFCI protection. You can put your exterior receptacles and lighting outlets on any circuit not otherwise restricted. Only the 120V 15/20A receptacles in the designated locations (outdoors is one) are required to be protected in general (discounting special equipment like pools/spas). Unless the manufacturer recomnmends/requires GFCI for the particular lighting fixture, I wouldn't bother. |
