Hi everyone!,
Can anyone give me their opinion of a wine mentioned in Under The Tuscan Sun book, called Grechetta or Grachetta? She described it as a lemony, white wine and that it is produced in the Tuscan area of Italy. Also, a Banfi vineyard variety she called Banfi's B. We are desperate to find them as this is how we travel on a single mom tight budget. I have emailed the Banfi Vineyard at their site several times and have never received a reply. Hmmm...anyway, would like to purchase if I could. Can anyone help? I would be very grateful. Thanks!

Never read the book, but the movie was good. You can buy Banfi on line at bevmo.com They have a good sellection. Use the search at the upper left side Banfi. From about $5-$35. The shiping gets a litle expensive. If you can not find it at a local store then this might be an option. I did not find any thing for the other wine in a quick search... Good Luck and enjoy. Actually the wine Grechetto, is produced in Umbria a small wine region just under Tuscany, but who cares about lines on a map.
Grechetto is a white wine grown in Umbria and the most famout wines of this region are Trebbiano, Grechetto and the Grecheto of Todi. Also consider the wines of the orvietano area.
If you are planning on visiting the two above areas get a good map and look carefully for the regions.
