I try to make at least 1 batch of blackberry and red raspberry wine each year from the brambles that I grow at home. If I can get a good price on cherries, I also will do a batch of that but since I usually use 20 lbs of them, it gets expensive fast if I have to buy the whole lot. Normally, I try to end up with a medium dry fruit wine that is around 14% alcohol and they usually take just about a year from start of fermentation to bottling since they take a little longer to drop clear than just using grapes.

I also make blackberry wine and have 7 gallons (3 batches) going currently. I find I have better luck if I freeze the berries (kills lots of nasties), so I typically use the berries I picked last season. Most wine books have berry recipes. I'm trying watermelon next!

I've made strawberry wine from time to time. I find (for me) the secret is to finish it all the way out til it's dry, then sweeten it just a little. It was nasty fully dry, but a little sugar brought out the taste and aroma of fresh strawberries. I use very little sugar, since I prefer dry wines.
