Hi,
I have a problem with my grapes - leaves become grey/brown spotted and finally dry out.
Pictures - early stage, next stage, very bad, and finally
I suspect tiny insects living on leaves (sorry for poor photo quality) - Seating on leave and Magnified. There are lot of them - about 5-10 on one leave. They can fly easily when you get closer.
But may be it is result of some virus.
Can you identify the decease, please?
Thank you,
Alexander |

Alexander, You have leafhoppers. They suck the sap out of the back sides of the grape leaves. Use leafhopper as a search engine on this site and you will get the information you need. I have a infestation on them at this time of the year and it drives me nuts! I use insectisidle (sp) soap, malathion, and even planted geraniums (they don't like the smell-supposedly), raking up the cedar bark bed every winter, where they stay, waiting for spring and new leaves and have less than good results. Depending on where you live, they carry grape deseases so you have to fight them tooth and nail. Keep an eye on the "fruit" forum. I was planning on venting on the forum and I think I will. Maybe we will get something new or over looked by me. John |
