Up to my eyeballs in beer bottles!!!
Comments (12)I'm particularly fond of bottle (beer and wine) borders, I've been putting them in slowly for the last 4 or 5 years, and haven't had any frost heaving or popping problems in the winter. Overzealous weedwhacking will occasionally break a bottle, but you learn pretty quickly how to avoid that. :) Looks like I actually need to take some more current pictures of the borders, but the link below shows the one I put in first, around a new herb garden. I've since rearranged and enlarged it (mixing the brown, green and blue bottles more randomly along the border). There's also a nice article in garden gate on how to make a lighted bottle border. Comments (25)LOL Tex, that's how I get my bottles, both wine and beer! I use them for garden borders too. I use fiberglass fence posts (which are basically dowels) cut in half so each half is about 2 ft or a bit longer. I pound these into the ground leaving an approx one foot section sticking out, and slide the bottles over them. I left spaces between them so I can get inside with the weed trimmer. I'm lazy and let mother nature remove the labels over time, which is why some still have their labels in the pictures. Hubby loves my bottles when he's mowing because they are easy to see, unlike the rock borders I used to have!...See MoreBottle caps
Comments (7)I'm a jewelry fiend....so of course I'm gonna say "make some charms" !! lol ...like for charm bracelets!!! Print out photos of family or vintage photos, or even just words or pictures, or bits and pieces of different things. Drill a small hole for a jump ring.Use them in altered art collage work. Christmas ornaments like you mentioned. Magnets with photos or bits....try some resin, since you have 500...you can make plenty. Add glitter to some, just a teensy bit. Try a picture, and use pliers to "fold" the edges of the cap over to the front, especially if it's colored. Leave them like they are for resin. My daughter is saving purple and green bottle caps from those girlie drinks for me to make a charm bracelet :) Here is a link that might be useful: Kudzu's Blog...See MoreHow many bottles of wine do I need?
Comments (4)Why not choose wines both you and your fiance like, that way you won't have to worry about buying too much. I don't think 1/2 bottle for prewedding, dinner and post dinner is nearly enough. At the bare minimum I would order at least 18 bottles, that's only 1 1/2 cases. Remember, most places give you a 10% case discount. A lot of your decision will also depend on how many non-drinkers you have. You may also want to have a few bottles of champagne available for wedding cake and toasts. If dinner is going to be something that goes with red wine than 67% of the wine should probably be red. If dinner is roasted chicken or lobster, I would do 100% white, plus champagne. If you run out of wine just after dinner, I suspect your guests will depart shortly after - which may or may not be a good thing! Good luck, jerri...See Morerosesinny
