are petite syrah grapes good to eat?

Hello folks,
My question is not about wine, but there is no "grape" forum (gasp!) on gardenweb. I've wanted to plant grapes (for eating) for some time now but haven't. Yesterday 28 petite syrah plants dropped in my lap, and I'm not interested in planting them if they're not good to eat as table grapes. Any one have any experience with these grapes? Thanks, Dave

Of course. And they make good juice too. The deal with those is that they have thicker skins than something like say, merlot, and when you make wine from them, it is rather tannic. But for eating, all the wine grapes are just fine. In fact, I think they are much much better because most "table" grapes are way too sweet for me.
