help wine cooler not working

We have a Ultraline (apparently Viking made) wine cooler that the cold controller is not working on. A replacement part is a crazy $400 by the time I pay tax. An appliance technician replaced it with a $100 cold controller from a fridge but that doesn't work as the temperature fluctuates between -12C and -1C, not really useful for anything. I think if we can hook up a controller that will manage the right temperature range we will be good (this is a high end cooler that I'd like to save because I like the door, other option is to buy a new one but not as nice & I'm not willing to pay what this one costs new -- it came with the house).

Will this work? RANCO ETC-111000 Digital Cold Temperature Control. Seems to be the only thing even close I can find. I watched the technician hook up the current one, seemed easy. He drilled a hold through the cooler, put the controller in the cooler and hooked the controller up with two wires to switch for the compressor.

Thanks for all your help

Sharon

The controller has to be able to handle the wattage of the compressor.
