Hello, I live in wisconsin, and last year I purchased two different kinds of grapes,
Fredonia and frontenac. Are these kinds of grapes high enough quality to produce a nice wine? |

| Don't know about Fredonia but Frontenac can make a very nice red wine. It tends to be a bit high in acid so you may need to blend in some years but here in the Hudson Valley it's pretty vigorous and easy to work with. |

The University of Minnesota has released a number of superior wine grape hybrids. Elmer Swenson's Saint Croix is one of the premium midwest red wine types. I would not bother using Fredonia, an old ordinary flat labrusca of mediocre quality. Contact University of Minnesota for a list of their latest wine introductions. |
