I'm broke and out of space but I will be making room for the following: 1. BOULE DE NEIGE -- I've been lusting after this pure snowy white Bourbon for years and now is my last chance. His sister Coquette des Blanches is an excellent rose so I have high hopes for this beauty. 2. CASINO -- among my dwindling list of favorite vendors (Antique Rose Emporium, Chamblees & Heirloom) Vintage is the only one who is offering this fragrant Large Flowered yellow climber. He is replacing one of my Pilgrim's that got choked out by Belladonna last year. 3. ORFEO -- only Vintage and Rogue Valley Roses carry this dark red Large Flowered Climber that does particularly well in the Mid-Atlantic region. 4. SPARTAN -- nobody has this reddish orange VID Floribunda but Vintage. I figured I'd better snatch him up before it is too late. All these roses have strong fragrances. Others that I missed out on are Apricot Nectar VID, Lullaby, Osiria, Rosemary Rose, and Yolande d'Aragon. All these are hard to find but I'm particularly distraught over Osiria. Wow, catspa - that Buff Beauty picture is stunning. My Buff Beauty is in part shade and doesn't reach the magnificence of your photo! Judith, you have some great roses already on your list. Earlier this year I also ordered Pink Puff, Pink Bountiful, Sonoma, Cathedral, Bon-Bon, Peach Beauty, Helene Schoen, Carrousel, Akebono, and Verona. How did I miss Nocturne?? See - the enabling is already rebounding. I also have to heartily encourage Marlowe's Soft Orange. It snuck in a bloom when I bought it this year and it's the loveliest apricot I've ever seen in a climber. Don't let the word "orange" scare anyone off - it's a keeper. If you want a great dark red, Karl Herbst has been surprisingly vigorous for a second year plant. I missed its first bloom cycle for photos, but I'll see if it has recycled and post a photo. Cynthia

This year, the first year, I grew Early Girl, Yellow Pear, Patio, and Husky Cherry Red in 5-gallon buckets. I harvested one ripe tomato from each of the Early Girl and the Patio plants in the last week of May and first Week of June. The Patio produced about 20-25 tomatoes, most of which were unimpressive. The Early Girl has produced and is still producing, but the taste is only somewhat better than the ones at the grocery store. The Yellow Pear and Husky Cherry are both producing ok, considering the EB, pests, beginner learning curve, limited sun, etc. The Yellow Pear is very mild. I don't mind it but I won't grow it next year because the taste isn't my favorite and it is a beast size-wise. The Husky Cherry toms are actually quite tasty, so I might grow one, but it has a hard time with EB. I have one Celebrity that I planted in early June that I haven't harvested from yet. I try to stay with small-fruited prolific varieties because of my limited sun. Next year I'll probably plant Husky Cherry and Celebrity depending on how it does. Based on some of the recommendations here I'd like to try Sun Gold or Sun Sugar. I'm also intrigued by Tumbling Tom.

Thanks for your feedback -- Linda - The necklace may have been dipped, since my mom was fond of silver dip... But there's some tarnish in the stamping grooves and on the back sides of the links. Nothing that looks like plating wearing off or peeling, so whatever metal it is, it looks full-depth. Maybe nickel silver? The metal color is very similar to some of my old sterling jewelry, but there is no sterling stamp. (Unless it was on the now-gone clasp.) I have looked very closely for markings. Unless it's practically worn off, there's nothing on the back, first or last links. Don't suppose they'd bury it in the middle? I'll see if good outdoor light reveals anything, but I doubt I'll be able to get better pictures. Is there something specific you's like to see LG? Something tells me this piece is older than the 1970's. 70's peices had a kind of hippie/druggie/earth shoes look that I remember well ;-) I'm with LazyGardens in thinking it looks '40's or 50's-ish -- which was probably why it took me so long to warm to the piece.
