The windows may be intrusive when opened if going with an awning window on bottom. An reverse oriel double hung may work well and would
cost less if the awning doesn't fit your needs.

Disregard my last post if the transoms were going to be inoperable. You'd might negate the need for tempered glass with the transoms on the bottom as well..

I like the look actually, but as Todd said, if the lower windows are to crank out (awnings) they could possibly pose a hazard if a walkway is on the other side. If you are going to have a flowerbed up against the house outside those windows you should be fine.

Good point from both of you. Thank you. These windows are above ground level as our land grade has a daylight basement below this portion of the home.
