New Hurd Windows Anyone?

Anyone have any experience with Hurd window and door products since they were acquired by HWD Acquisition in December 2008? Specifically the aluminum clad series. Please no posts on Hurd windows purchased before the 2008 acquisition. Thanks!

RE: New Hurd Windows Anyone?

We bought the aluminum-clad windows. So far, we like them. They seem to be airtight and they look great. Our only problem was with our local supplier here in northern Virginia who mismeasured a couple of windows. Our installer did a good job of trimming them to fit since we received a lousy response from the head of the department. I decided not to return them, but since I did not do all the windows at the same time, we still need to replace our deck doors/windows and I refuse to use the same supplier, so we are stuck. We chose the Boysenberry color, so I will probably have a hard time matching if we go with another company for the remaining doors.

Same question mydreamhome posted 12/09 -- any experience to share with Hurd post-aquisition? My contractor strongly prefers a dealer who, in my price range, strongly prefers Hurd for the bang for the buck now that they're trying to regain market share. I'm looking at aluminum clad sliders and a few casement windows. Thanks!
