Can window panes/glass be replaced without entire new window?

2 of the windows in my home have a piece of cracked glass.

the cracks are very small.
The windows have an aluminum frame and are the kind that slide up and down (only the bottom part).

I think they are original to the house (1960).

is it possible to replace just the pieces of glass since the windows are in good working order?

Yes.

Search for a Glazier in your area. Should be serviceable.

I have had glass replaced by a glass company. They came out, measured, cut the new glass, popped out the old and installed the new. Google a glass company in your area.

With windows that old, you'll want to call a professional. Search for a glazier or glass shop.

But it definitely can be done and it should be fairly simple.
