I am going to assume you are looking for a full framed wood double hung type window? If that is so I would look at Marvin Ultimate Dbl Hungs or Kolbe Sterling Dbl Hungs as they will be the best of the bunch. They all will have I believe a vinyl jamb liner but will have a wood cap, never heard of anything with abn actual "wood jamb liner".

Yeah. The guy said I couldn't find a wood jamb liner because of how windows are made. I have a call into a better lumber store who sells those two mfrs, so hopefully she can help me.

Just frustrating. I have original windows we are carefully restoring, which are all wood, and we will have this rogue replacement that has vinyl? I don't think so!

The brands I mention have a wood covering. I doubt very much your current windows have a "wood jamb liner" but probably a wood frame with a parting stop between the sash and either cord or chains with weights and pulleys.

No, you are correct in that they are just old school double hung windows. I was referring to the look of wood where that jamb / liner was.

I will check out those brands.

Marvin and Loewen both make a wood doublehung with a very realistic jambliner. I believe Loewen is all wood while Marvin has just a hint of vinyl inside the track.

That's correct, the Marvin has about 1/2" or so of visible liner , just so that the tilt latches don't gouge the wood. As mwm said, not really any such thing as a wood jamb "liner". There are woo jambs, and the liners are there to protect the wood from damage. Some products then put a wood cap over that liner in areas that don't really come into contact with moving parts.
