Alside Sheffield or Soft-lite Classic Windows

I am in the process of replacing the remainder of my vinyl windows. There were windows already installed on my brick home when we bought it. I am replacing six double hung and one small casement window. I want to match the current windows so I don't want to buy something that won't go with the current look. The mid-grade vinyl windows I have are in good shape. I have received a few quotes from companies in my area. The quotes I have are:

Alside Sheffield - $3650
Soft-Lite Classic - $3950

I looked at some others but the windows looked too different and the companies didn't use their own installers. I'm tired of the process and I just want to move forward.

I got one more quote today. Because I belong to Angie's List I can get the Soft-Lite Imperial LS 6 double hung and the one casement window for $3575.

Would you concur that I'm done shopping for windows and I should just get them installed or should I look for some other brand of window?

The soft lite is a much better window. The alside sheffield has a very high air infiltration rating, a bulky frame, and a very outdated sill.

mmarse1 is right, Soft-lite is definitely the better window - in both design and performance. I wouldn't recommend anything from Alside.

I'd opt for sash reinfircement in the Soft-Lite to boost air infiltration numbers, added security and strength. Or upgrade to the Pro, LS or Elements if they carry it.

I agree with the suggestion of adding reinforcement. Soft lite do make a very good window, i do not think alside does.

I'd concur with the others in that the Softlite is a better choice IMO. I'd opt for the Pro series however as a minimum, which should be a minor premium over the Classic. The LS and Elements are their top lines and are very good.
