Mahogany - paint or not?

Our 1930s living room has two double hungs on the north wall (flanking a fireplace) and a huge bow window (three sections) on the west wall. The bow is approximately 6.5' tall and 11' wide, true divided light. We are replacing the bow (sashes and glass) with an exact replacement due to some rot issues. The custom millworker doing the job prefers to work in mahogany and the cost is not materially different from pine or fir.

So, here is the question. The double hungs and all the woodwork in the house is painted. I want to keep the new bow unpainted (on the inside) because I think the mahogany will look great and be a focal point of the room . My wife wants to paint it because it would be our only exposed woodwork.

What do you all think? Note that there are no other windows on the same wall as the bow. But the bow window frame will remain painted (as it is now). It is only the sashes and the TDL bars that will be mahogany.

Thanks
