anderson windows opens perfectly but wont close

hi everyone i wanted to know if anyone here can help me. i am not handy at all but i did buy a replacement operator cover and handle to replace my current one. model 1359642. the one i had on there was cracked down the middle. i thought it was an easy fix so i ordered a new one from anderson. when it got here i took the old one off and replaced the new one, the windows open perfectly but when you close it the cover literally pops out of place this is how the last one was broken down the middle i guess. i took the handle area apart but couldnt figure it out. i just purchased this home so i do not knw the history of these windows.

More info is necessary and pictures would certainly help as the description you give is not enough information to help you.
