| OK, I need some advice on installing Aluminum nail-fin windows into an existing frame-stucco house with exposed headers. I'm installing 9 windows. Some are in brand new construction (addition), but most are new holes in existing walls. Of concern to me is the following:
1. The house was built with the vapor barrier outside of the foam. This was apparently allowed back in 1988. This complicates the installation of sill flashing as I'm not quite sure how to get the new flashing between the existing stucco and the foam. 2. The windows have exposed headers. Not sure what I should do about header flashing and/or the top nail fin in this case. 3. There's some sort of bracket running around the other windows that is embedded in the stucco and is also between the exposed header and the window. What is that bracket? Do i need to install it as part of the window install or is this a stucco contractor thing?
