Kitchen Window Project

Some projects just come to mind as "why not?. This was one of those. The double hung, painted kitchen windows may look nicer as stained wood. Tops painted shut, bottoms didn't open much.
Out came the heat gun to start start a stripping test on the frame. Ack, lots of colors under there. More work than expected, but decided to proceed. Kitchens seem to be the worst room to have to make a genuine mess, between cooking & eating.
Once the frame/sill was done, the window was disassembled to remove the trim, stops, and sashes and move the mess to the basement workshop. Just put up the exterior storm windows to keep out the weather. Did crack 3 of the panes trying to get the glass out. Oh well, easier to sand!
Finally stained, and multi-coats of poly. Glass installed. Removed & cleaned pulleys, and replaced weight ropes.
Perfect, a long Thanksgiving weekend allowed plenty of time to re-assemble everything. Looks good enough for me.
