| I'm looking into replacing the original windows in my old (at least 70 years) farm house. I don't think the look of vinyl really works for this application. My home is in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mtns. so it gets pretty cold in the winter and pretty hot in the summer.The summers are humid as well so I need a window that will stand up well to humidity.
What window companies would you recommend for my area and application? I want something that will last a long time. I don't intend to do this again, ever. I think my options are fiberglass or wood. Which would you recommend and why? Thanks. |

| Between those two, fiberglass will get the nod for the reasons that you cited above. It will hold up better than today's wood windows, is almost completely immune to humidity shifts, will last a long time, and will look a bit more organic than vinyl and not hurt the wallet as much as really good wood windows. |
