Have I missed the boat on replacing windows?

I would like to replace a large (6x6) single pane window before it gets really cold and also want to take advantage of tax credits, but I'm finding lead times of 4-6 weeks for the Andersen windows I've picked out. It'll be a full frame replacement which I assume will involve painting of trim and other woodwork (we're making the window smaller) that may not be possible in cold temperatures. Would you wait until late spring for the replacement or is it ok to leave wood exposed until late spring? I'm in northern NJ.

The current tax credit is for 2009/2010 so even if you buy in 2010 you get the tax credit.

You need Triple pane vinyl. They make them to look exactly like wood windows. Check out Uniframe.
