View window selection

I am replacing some windows in my house that have great views and am trying to decide what kind of windows to go with. I feel that vinyl tends to have thick frames and less glass than fiberglass or aluminum and I also don't have the budget to get anything exotic. Hence, I was leaning towards fiberglass but would like to know if the frames really are thinner than vinyl to provide more glass surface.

Also, I am concerned about the tinting caused by low E coating on modern windows. The windows in the house right now are very old and completely untinted, which looks great. The house is in San Francisco so keeping out heat is never really a problem - hence, would I enjoy any of the benefits of the low E coating in the cool San Francisco climate?

Many thanks for your inputs.
