I found a great deal on a new entry door on Craigslist, bu the problem is that the door jamb measures 6 inches, while my existing door jamb measures 4 5/8". Is there anything that can be done realistically to make this door fit?

I should also mention that the door is prehung with two sidelites, one on each side of the door.

Three options, reframe your wall with 2 x 6, cut the new frame down to 4 5/8 or buy a new frame and use the new door and sidelites. Other than that nothing else you could do

Seems like cutting down the door frame to 4 5/8 would be the best option. How difficult is that to do? I am planning on having a carpenter friend-of-a-friend do the job, but I can't get in touch with him right now to discuss this particular door.

would have to take the entire unit including the frame apart
