Colonial House Window Size

We are designing a Colonial house that is 40' across the front with a single door in the front, two windows on each side of the door and five across the top. Can anyone tell me what would be an acceptable window size and how many squares per window?

In a colonial I like windows slightly on the lager side, about 32-34" wide by 55-60" tall. Nine lights per sash will make close to perfect squares.

Size will depend on a few things. What is the ceiling height? If you have 9' or 10' ceilings, get taller windows.
As far as width goes, it will depend on your tastes.
For true colonial appearing windows, be sure the lites are taller than they are wide. The number will depend on the size of window you settle on.
