Hanging blinds on a window that's recessed 8 inches?

Do I hang a roman woven wood blind on the outside of the window frame or inside the recessed window opening? What would a interior designer do? The recessed opening is 79.5" wide x 68" tall the OS window frame is about 4" narrower and 1" shorter. There isnÃ¯Â¿Â½t enough room to hang it inside the window frame.

It depends on the look you are trying to achieve.

If you hang it over the whole recess you will make the room look smaller.

Thanks. I did not know that. The room is only 12' x 12' so I don't want it to look smaller.
