Windows for function over fashion

We are doing a complete gut renovation of a small cottage-like home near Portland, Oregon. We are downsizing and intend for this to be our forever home. Windows are important to us and we want low-maintenance units with longevity. We have no opinion about vinyl, fiberglass, wood, etc., though we do have a budget to keep in mind.

There are 9 windows total; a combination of fixed casement and sliders. Our GC spec'd Fort Flash and PlyGem Pro Series vinyl windows.

Of course after being presented with this proposal I hopped online and started to get nervous about using PlyGem, so I called a family member who actually has a glass shop. He is 100% loyal to Jeld Wen. Jeld Wen doesn't get much love around here. Now I'm really confused!

Assuming the installer does a proper job -- In the Pacific Northwest, if one is looking for the best functioning residential windows that are long lasting with minimal maintenance, what are our best options?

Thank you for your help!
