OP here... One thing to add is that this little house has a stunning view of Mt. Hood, so the more glass and the less framing material in the windows, the better for the view.

Given you location and requirements, don't look at wood. There are some narrow frame vinyl options as well as something in the fiberglass or composite family.

Those should give you the lifetime durability and efficiency you are looking for.

Is your contractor specifying full tear outs? I am guessing yes based on the full gut description earlier.

I really appreciate your opinions. I tried researching manufacturers back in February, but it seemed a lot of the more trusted brands are not available in Oregon and my attempts to gather information just resulted in a lot of spam.

A full tear out does not necessarily mean new construction. New construction usually implies a nailing flange and associated flashing of that flange in addition to the new interior trim work.

Milgard is very popular here. Marvin is also readily available. I had never heard of PlyGem, so I'm sure there are probably other brands around here we aren't aware of that might be worth consideration.
