i've been reading posts here on windows since i have at least 6 builder grade silverline that need to be replaced. i made a request for dealer infor from okna and sunrise based in reviews here but the okna rep, residential specialists, have 9 complaints over 3 years on the bbb and the sunrise rep that called( castle windows)was super creepy. they insisted on getting my husbands name and wouldnt schedule an appt unless he was here. very sketchy and condesending.
i have a local handyman that i like but he uses alside which i see here is not a good choice.
also a neighbor had windows done by a company that uses pella and they get a very good consumer rating on angies list and the neighbir is happy.
i want a good window but not if the installer is suspect.
any advice?

I'd follow you gut and keep looking.
I would not use your neighbors contractor if they were installing Pella's vinyl window.

The Okna window is an excellent window. Call the dealer, ask for the sales manager and tell him your concerns about the BBB rating. I believe that dealer does a huge number of jobs each year, and to have 3 complaints per year may be acceptable if the company followed up and made the customer happy. Read the complaints and the resolutions at BBB. Any dealer can get a complaint, some are legit and some are a little questionable.

Requiring both partners to be home for an expensive sales pitch is not unusual. It has happened to me at least three times.

All companies have complaints. Are they dealt with and corrected? That's the question.

Ask your friendly handyman for some references Alside windows are no where near as bad as made out to be on this board. The complaints are too emotional for professional consideration. I have had Alside Excalibur for over 5 years and I can assure you, there is no gale force wind blowing thru my house.

You are right about the installer. I understand a good installation is 80% of how your windows will perform.
