We have an aluminum sliding door that has to be replaced. Unfortunately, my contractor tells me that there is not enough head room to install a wood door so it will have to be another aluminum one or perhaps vinyl. We just have 2 x 4 construction so it has to fit into this space. Can you point me in the right direction to start researching doors please? This is all new to me, so I don't know how to begin and what to watch for. The existing door is 8 ft. wide by 74 inches high.

Ger a new contractor. There are companies that make wood doors that size. Marvin is one to look at.

I think I will get a wood window person to come and look at the space. Thanks for the response.
