Marvin Infinity pricing

I've seen the Marvin Infinity windows and they look nice. Every time I ask about pricing, everyone says they are expensive without giving me an estimate. The best I ever received was, one salesmen said for 14 windows, it would cost about $40k. Is that really how expensive these windows are or is there a better profit margin on Vinyl windows that they want to turn the buyers away from Marvin to focus on the budget Vinyl windows? One salesmen got all choked up when I asked him to give me the price of the specific window in his showroom. He looked around and all he could say is "it's expensive". I asked like $1,000 or more like $2,000. He said it would probably be closer to $2,000 and couldn't even come up with a number. The window looks great and all but I have a hard time believing that it costs $2,000 for a standard 4x5 gliding window. Even if it did, 14 x $2,000 is no where near $40k the other salesmen told me.

If they can't give you a number, move along.

    At nearly 3K a window...move along.

Find another vendor or look at another option.

They obviously don't want to sell the window. It is a more expensive window, but the prices you're getting (or not getting) from the contractor are ridiculous.

Considering that Marvin is very selective with who sells Infinity I'm surprised that they basically were trying to price you out of buying the window. They also typically don't sell any other products if they sell Infinity. Infinity is a good product but you might be better off buying something from someone else.

Around here they sell for around $1500+ per opening from what I see. Fine window, but not worth the premium $$$ IMO. We actually just replaced some in a fourth floor condo because of excessive air leakage.

I looked at Marvin Infinity as well and chose another window. The Infinity was 1600 per window but after doing research , i found that higher end vinyl offer much better performance and structural integrity/ air infiltration.
Look at higher end vinyl, not the cheap stuff but the brands these pro's recommend. Some are soft lite windows, okna windows, starmark,, and sunrise vanguard windows. There are a few more but the names escape me.
They are much more affordable and look very sharp.

I checked out the Simonton's at Home Depot and the Daylight max has a thinner frame then most but the window is not very smooth when closing. The smoothest one I've seen so far is the Milgard Tuscany but the frame leaves something to desire. I would still like to check out the Anlin and maybe a higher end Simonton. Not sure if there are other good options here is Los Angeles, CA.

    Todd,
I may go check out the RBA too, but I don't see many praises for their windows on this site.

Unfortunately, looking at RBA means calling one of their franchises for a long drawn out sales pitch that concludes with a price that is probably in the $1500.00 per window range.

While it is a nice looking window, it's overpriced for what it delivers IMO. As a less expensive alternative, you could look at the Andersen 100 which is somewhat similar though more limited in its options. Just know beforehand that both RBA and the 100 series are lookers rather than performers.

Just joking about the RBA. The 100 series has some decent performance numbers, I think better than the RBA's. I like the 100's casements but not there single hungs or sliders. Not familiar with the daylight max, but Simonton have always operated nicely for me.

I just got a quote for a number of Marvin Ultimate windows, and a 4 x 5 casement (triple pane) was about $1600 (uninstalled). A similar window in wood ultrex Integrity was about $1200.

That Ultimate window is worth that money if you ask me.

Very nice piece and supremely well made.

From what I understand, many (most?) Marvin dealers do not sell Infinity windows. That is why you cannot get a price from them, if anyone comes to this thread looking for info. The Infinity dealers are specialized, and around here, at least, will not discuss the window without a home visit.

The marvin infinity doesnt have very good performance numbers, i know the air infiltration rating isnt good at all. As far as fiberglass or composite windows are concerned, Starmark Windows seem to have the best performance numbers and the pricing is better.

Nancy, that is somewhat correct. The Infinity is generally an "exclusive" product assigned to one dealer in a given area, however that does not preclude those dealers from selling other Marvin products. Other Marvin dealers will generally sell the full Marvin and Integrity line, of which I actually prefer the wood/ultrex Integrity personally... The level of price, pressure, and clandestine way with which information is given out will vary by dealer.

The Marvin and Integrity dealer I saw told me by name who the Infinity dealer was. This salesman was upfront about not having the Infinity brand. I would have been very irritated if I had been interested in the Infinity windows and had gone to the Marvin dealer expecting to see them, only to have the salespeople be less than upfront about 1. whether they carried them or 2. who did carry them, as seemed to happen with the posters above in the thread.

Marvin is treating their Infinity line like a totally different line of window, so having them under the "Marvin" brand and showing them on the same website as the other two Marvin windows is confusing. Hey - I won't even go into how their website moves you from one brand of window to another without you being aware that you had made that selection! It makes me understand better why Sunrise would keep Restorations and Vanguard window lines separate from each other and from their other lines.

From a performance perspective, both the sunrise vanguard and sunrise restorations are both worlds above anything marvin offers. They are also good looking windows.

Thanks Krypton, we will go look at them next week, with hubby off work. The Restorations quote was out of this world ($1700 per window for a 4ft wide, 3ft high double casement for simple double pane argon), but I do have a Vanguard dealer we can check out.
